The NEW Asia Restaurant at Ritz Carlton Mega Kuningan Jakarta

March 26th, 2017. There’s something new near me. It’s not a new restaurant, it’s not a new hotel. But it’s a new appearance at the restaurant in a hotel. Well, so many hotels are doing renovation ya. Hmm.. the power of.. what? social media? happening places? It’s really intimidating, right? I just hope there’s no power of fake people hahahahaha.. Ok back to this place. Asia Restaurant.


The Ritz-Carlton Jakarta, Mega Kuningan reopens its Asia restaurant which was closed for merely three (3) short weeks for refurbishment. The hotel’s all day dining restaurant with a three-meal buffet concept turns into a 292-seat chic new restaurant with eclectic contemporary setting. The restaurant also offers a list of new delights in both its buffet counters as well as a la carte.

Before you go inside, you will find playground for kids in front of the facade. After that you will be amazed by their new concept. The lovely tables and seats. The gorgeous decorations at the buffet area in a form like beehive. So beautiful. It’s better than the previous Asia.

While the all-time favorite buffet items remain, namely; the local delicacies such as Baso, Nasi Goreng, Hainan Chicken Rice, Rib Eye Roast Beef, to name a few; Asia Restaurant also introduces numerous buffet signatures such as the new Caesar Salad with grilled vegetable and a large parmesan cheese that uniquely functions as a mixer bowl. To highlight a few new delicacies, the “Sushi” counter now offers a new signature Onigiri Sushi, the “As You Wish” live cooking station now offers a new Indian Naan Bread, the “Traditional” live cooking station offers a new Nasi Goreng a la Asia, the “Noodles” live cooking station offers four (4) new choices of soups (beef/chicken/vegetarian/laksa), and the “Dessert” counter showcases numerous new signature cakes such as Hazelnut Royaltine and Triple Chocolate.

Its famed buffet dining concept is on offer for a list of new pricing effective 1 March 2017:

I was very happy when I got a chance to stay at one of my favourite hotels. It’s coincided with Earth Hour event. It was such a great opportunity and amazing experience. So, that night, my hubby and I enjoyed our staycation, even though it’s not really far from our apartment. Shangri-La Hotel, Jakarta.

I just realized that they renovated most of their suites and rooms. An inspiration from Indonesian artisanship from the across archipelago, the hotel lets guests discover the distinctive element of modern Indonesian art through handmade craft display, modern batik and tenun fabric, as well as wood engraving that adorn the rooms. They used a new colour palette revolving around creamy silver and gold, including lighter wooden furniture, embraces a look that is ‘modern elegance’. It felt so warm and very homey. We loved it so very much.

What a lovely complimentary. The lounge was calm and serene. They served drinks and snacks. Such a nice lounge to visit when you want to work or just read book while having a quite time outside your room.

A nice resort-size butterfly-shaped pool with pool playground for kids. Lovely. As you can see below, I captured moments when the large bucket filled with water, then it overflowed, then the water spilled like waterfalls. Exciting, right?

Earth Hour Participation

Shangri-La Hotel, Jakarta will participate in Earth Hour with a 60-minute energy-saving action by turning the lights off in most back of the house areas and dimming the lights in its public areas, restaurants and hotel exteriors. Guests will be encouraged to participate in the unique coconut candle-lighting process in the hotel’s garden, which will naturally illuminate the premises during the hour. Hotel colleagues collected used coconut shells from the kitchen and utilised them as candle containers, arranging around 100 coconut shells to form ‘60+’ (the Earth Hour symbol). Hotel bartender will create a special coconut mocktail from the coconut water and fruit for guests to enjoy during the hour.

Taken the photo from 23rd floor, it’s not easy hahaha I have to make my hubby covered me with the curtain, then I took photos without any movement, because it’s too dark. And voila, it looked so gorgeous, right? *too proud*


Beyond the hour, the hotel will present a Sunday Earth Market that displays locally sourced food products on Sunday, 26 March 2017, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Sunday Earth Market aims to show appreciation, spread awareness to the public and encourage the public to buy from local producers, as opposed to buying imported products, to minimise food transportation, resulting in a smaller carbon footprint. Guests may shop for products ranging from coffees, honey, fruits and veggies, rice, soya and almond milk, and delicious snacks.

There’s also Rosso Micro Roastery Coffee takeover at Satoo Deli. So exciting!

Last but not least, we had dinner at Rosso, breakfast at Satto and Brunch at Jia. I didn’t take many photos, since it’s too dark when we had dinner at Rosso. Then when we had breakfast, too many people around us, so yeah just a couple photos. When we had brunch at Jia, we were in a hurry so no time to take many photos. But you can see my reviews about those restaurants on my blog. Just keep blog-walking.

March 19th, 2017. I love Italian food. Lasagna, always my favourite. And now, I found new love. Risotto! Risotto is a northern Italian rice dish cooked in a broth to a creamy consistency. Hmmm.. mouth-watering, right? And that Sunday, I came back to one of favourite Italian restaurant. Rosso.

I love all of them on my table. But my favourite was the oyster. OMG! Firm and slippery at the same time.  Fresh oysters, presented on a luxury trolley, all around the restaurant.

Love the salmon tar tar. And the black bun made it beautiful at the presentation. Definitely great appetizer to start the lunch. The truffle hollandaise sauce enhanced the flavour of the salmon tar tar. Don’t forget to break the poached egg. Beautiful runny egg yolk. Hmmm..

[EVENT] Good France 2017 at Lyon Mandarin Oriental Thamrin Jakarta

March 15th, 2017. I was invited to one notable French restaurant located in the heart of Jakarta. It’s about Good France 2017. I heard about it, but totally forget. So when they invited me to join Good France, I asked them, “Is that a new restaurant?” LOL! Silly me! Ahahahaha.. They were so kind, they told me that it’s an event. And I said, “OMG! Yes, I remember! Stupid me! Definitely I will come.” So that night, I came to the French restaurant. Lyon Mandarin Oriental.


On March 21, 2017, more than 2,000 chefs on 5 continents will celebrate French gastronomy. Its first edition took place on March 19, 2015, following the inscription of the gastronomic meal of the French on the list of the intangible heritage of UNESCO. The Goût de France / Good France event unites chefs from all horizons and from around the world on the same evening, with one shared goal: celebrating the excellence and creativity of French gastronomy. This was my first time to Lyon. What a lovely place. Elegant atmosphere with sophisticated ambiance, Lyon offers a range of classic dishes from across France. They also boast an impressive wine cellar from across France and around the world. Lyon delivers the very best of French cuisine in such an amazing environment.

Best classic onion soup. I didn’t catch any smell of onions. Yaay! Actually They mixed the cheese and croutons into the onion soup. I ate a spoonful and almost cried. So hot! Hahahaha.. The cheese got stuck in my tongue LOL. I wanna cry, literally. But the soup was addicting. True! I couldn’t stop eating the soup. Hans even took the complimentary bread, and dipped it into the soup. De-li-ci-ous.

Gruyère is a hard yellow cheese, named after the town of Gruyères in Switzerland, and originated in the cantons of Fribourg, Vaud, Neuchâtel, Jura, and Berne.

The Lobster Bisque

Black Truffle Whipped Cream

It’s good but too bad I ate the onion soup before this. It became a little bit tasteless. Thank goodness the black truffle and the whipped cream enhanced the flavour of this menu. The rich texture of the bisque was overwhelming.

Bisque is a smooth, creamy, highly seasoned soup of French origin, classically based on a strained broth of crustaceans. It can be made from lobster, langoustine, crab, shrimp or crayfish.

The Black Angus Striploin Rossini

Seared Foie Gras, Red Onion Marmalade and Perigourdine Jus

“You had me at foie gras.” Hahaha. Then they had me at striploin, of course. The striploin was tender and succulent. And the foie gras’ texture was mind-blowing. Such a romantic dish actually. The relationship between striploin and foie gras based on trust, I guess. They trust each other to bring such a sensual dish in front of me. Hmmm..

The Roasted Cod Fillet

The texture of the cod fillet was devastating. The delicate flavour of cod is wonderfully paired with the crushed potatoes and spinach. Actually, the herb crushed potatoes was very well-seasoned. This flavourful and tender cod fillet was a recommended dish.

This was heaven for chocolate lovers. The perfect indulgent dessert with a traditional praline filling. Love the chocolate mousse! Not too sweet. And the presentation was astounding. Chocolate rings piled up with creams. Such a darling.

A Paris–Brest is a French dessert, made of choux pastry and a praline flavoured cream.

March 5th, 2017. I’m always happy to be back to a place that serve delicious food. So when one of my favourite restaurant asked me to try their latest promotion, I was overjoyed. I arranged the date, and asked my #DFS team to come with me, alongside with Aline and Cindy as our guest-stars hahaha.. Finally coming back to this place. Pearl Chinese Restaurant.


Located on the second floor of the five star luxury JW Marriott Hotel Jakarta, Pearl Chinese Restaurant is a true jewel in fine Cantonese dining and ready to bring the best of Cantonese Dim Sum to the heart of Jakarta. Preserving the long-lived Chinese tradition, Executive Chinese Chef Ken Choy and his creative culinary team are ready to bring up 40 menu selections every Sunday from 10:30am to 02:30pm, with priced at 488k++ per person (including free flow of Chinese Tea). This culinary offering is presented to cater families’ tradition to go to yum cha on holidays.

I love dimsum, and it’s really good to have a full course dim sum experience where made to order to boost the guest’s culinary experience. They served welcome drink to us, first. Then they served a lot of dim sum in front of us. Wow, right? And we started taking photos before we ate.

Chinese cooking is one of the ancient and most diverse in the world. Among 23 provinces within China, Guandong (or Canton) has the most well-known for its wide variety and cooking style. Yum Cha or Dim Sum is the most popular and well-known form of Cantonese cuisine. In Chinese, Dim Sum literally means “a light touch on the heart” which describe a happy and boisterous occasion when family and friends gather up to sip tea and eat a great variety of dishes. The unique culinary tradition began in ancient Silk Road where travelers often need a place to rest and drink tea (in Chinese “yum cha” means the act of drinking tea) before continuing their journey. The great number of travelers passing through, teahouses opened up along the roadside of Southern China. Until it was later discover that tea aid digestion, teahouses owner began offering bite-size snacks as an accompaniment and thus the tradition was born.

All delicious. Couldn’t pick one for the favourite because I love them all. Always my favourite dim sum restaurant.

[HOTEL] Kristal Hotel and Serviced Residence at Terogong Cilandak Jakarta

December 24th, 2016. Christmas eve. A time to spend lovely moment with family. And I had privilege to stay at a hotel in South Jakarta. Aline and I got the same privilege, so I told her about my plan to use it on Dec 24th. I asked her when she wanted to use the privilege. And she said, “Yes, same time with you!” Yaaaay, we spent holiday together. Kristal Hotel.


Hotel Kristal has a unique combination of hotel service and apartment accommodation, which offers 320 one, two and three bedroom suites and 8 penthouses (2 with private swimming pools). Each suite is equipped with IDD telephone, air conditioning, cable TV with 56 channels, kitchenette, refrigerator, water dispenser and standard guest amenities. We provide daily housekeeping service. For families with children, the little ones thrive in our special bedrooms with bunk beds and Cartoon Network on their own TV set. There is also a playground, tennis court and swimming pool for outdoor activities.


Nice place to spend the night with lovely hubby. The bed was at a nice size. The sofa was comfortable. And it’s very delightful to have a modest kitchen in the bedroom. Just a simple one but quite helpful. They have refrigerator and water dispenser. Cool. Ssst, for dinner, we ordered from gofood. *thanks Fachmi for ordering our dinner* Hahahaha..

I love the breakfast. Various dishes and delicious. The dining area is very spacious. And Alesha, Aline’s daughter, slept on the sofa, while we ate. So cute. Hahaha. By the way, I didn’t take photos of the place, since I’ve blogged about it. Find it here.
